What is an MRI?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (or MRI) uses a powerful magnet and radiofrequency pulses to generate signals from the body. These signals are detected by a radio antenna and processed by a computer to create detailed cross-sectional images of joints, soft tissues, and bones. MRI is a very safe, non-invasive procedure, no ionising radiation is used to create the images.
